Book an Appointment

Please phone the practice on 01698 852299 to make an appointment.

Appointments may also be made online. To do this please register for Patient Services – see below

To register with Patient Services please fill in this short application form and send it into the practice by email ([email protected]), send by royal mail or put into the letterbox at the front door. Once this application has been processed you will receive a letter containing information on how to register. Once you have registered you will be able to log in and make appointments or request repeat prescriptions online.

Please note that, when you have registered and then access the log-in page it says you can access your medical casenotes – this is for England only and does not apply to Scotland.

Vision Online is only available for patients aged 16 and over

It is easier and quicker to book appointments and request repeat prescriptions via our online service. Simply log in and select an option.

  • Please make a separate appointment for each member of the family who needs to be seen
  • We try to keep to time but please be patient if someone before you takes longer than planned
  • GP appointments are normally 15 minute slots and so, if you have a complicated problem, or more than one problem, please book a double appointment (i.e. 30 minutes)
  • It is Practice policy to allow patients to choose whichever doctor they wish to attend in the Practice.
  • Appointment times may vary during illness and holidays.

Please help us

If you are not able to attend your appointment please let us know in time so that the time can be used for someone else. If you are more than 10 minutes late for a booked appointment you may have to wait until the end of the surgery to be seen or you may be asked to re-book.

We are always grateful to the patients who, when they realise they cannot keep an appointment, phone or contact us to tell reception that they will not be coming. This lets that appointment slot be used for another patient or an emergency.

Pre-bookable appointments

Our appointments are a mixture of pre-bookable and on-the-day, the receptionist will advise you of the times and availability of these appointments when you phone.

Cancelled Appointments/Did Not Attend

The practice has a policy for patients who do not attend their appointments without letting us know beforehand. If you do not attend an appointment, this is logged as a DNA (Did not attend). If you cannot attend your appointments for any reason please let us know 24 hours in advance, we can then offer the appointment to someone else. If you DNA on 2 occasions or more we may decide to ask you to leave the practice and register elsewhere. In extreme cases we may ask the Health Board to remove you from our list.

Practice Nurses

In many cases it might be worth considering an appointment with the Practice Nurse or the Advance Nurse Practitioner (ANP) rather than a Doctor. Practice Nurses are qualified to deal with many ailments, and ANPs independently consult patients for a wide variety of health conditions and have the freedom and authority to act and make their own decisions in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients and will refer patients to clinical specialists where appropriate.  They provide care which may traditionally have been performed by a physician, although will still consult medical colleagues when they need advice.

Missed Appointments

Every month hundreds of appointments are missed by patients. These DNAs (Did Not Attend) or missed appointments are preventing other patients from seeing the doctor of their choice.

We may ask patients who persistently fail to turn up for their appointments to leave the practice.

Interpreter

If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and she will arrange this for you. The interpreting service requires at least 2 weeks to book an interpreter.

Private Medical Examinations

Medical examinations for special purposes such as pre-employment, fitness to travel, elderly drivers, fitness to undertake sports etc, will require longer than a routine appointment.

These examinations do not form part of NHS Services and you will be charged for any such examination. Please check the fee chargeable when you require to arrange any such examination.

Consultations 16 to 75

If a patient aged between 16 and 75 years has not had a practice consultation within a period of three years, we are happy, on request, to provide a consultation.
